Husband. Father. Author. Piano player. Infection Prevention and Control specialist. Nurse. Geek. Batman fan…

David was born in Middlesbrough, in the North East of England. He has been, in his time, a broadcaster for a local radio station, an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Consultant for the NHS (still is occasionally), worked in the film industry, and is an ardent anti-bullying campaigner via his organisation, Now Hear Us. He has a Kelly, a Jake, a Liam, a Cole and a dog called Obi.

A huge fan of Steve Alten, John Grisham and Lee Childs, David loves reading as much as he enjoys writing. The Tally Man, previously titled Hellbound, was his first novel, all thanks to Britain’s Next Bestseller and the aforementioned Steve Alten who took a chance on him as a writing coach client and taught him so much about what it takes to be a writer.

He is currently writing two series.

The Fire Brand series is his most recent, and consists of two alternating titles; a stand-alone series of thrillers about Jack Ryder, a man who always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ala John McClane, and Fire Brand AfterDark, a spin-off series that focuses on a supporting character from one of the main Fire Brand titles. These books are a little more gritty, a little more extreme and a little more ‘post watershed’! You don’t require knowledge of one to enjoy the other though.

The Hellbound Anthology deals with serial killers and the legacies they can leave behind. Obadiah Stark debuts in the The Tally Man, the first book in the series, with the consequences of his actions resonating throughout Nameless, the second book in the series. In Extremis takes the reader back to 1888 Whitechapel and the origins of true evil. The next set of books in the anthology are currently underway, with The Menagerie due for release winter 2023

He knows he only exists as an author because of you, and wants to thank you all son very much.

David lives in Redcar, Cleveland, with his wife and three children. And a dog. And two Axolotls

Writing gives you the chance to transport the reader to somewhere else, even if only for an hour or so a day. It might be somewhere terrifying, romantic, exotic or mysterious. And though you hope they’ll enjoy the journey, even if they are not completely satisfied, it is always a privilege that they spent that time in a world you created.
